Link checks
How Linkee checks a link
What a check looks at, how often it runs, and what it cannot see — so you know exactly what “link found” means.
- Every week for external sites
- Every day for your own sites
- “Check now” — result within minutes

What is compared with the deal
- The link is on the pageEven when it is loaded by JavaScript.
- The anchor matchesLetter case and stray spaces do not count as a change.
- The rel matchesIf you agreed on dofollow, a nofollow shows up as a mismatch.
- No redirectA link that now redirects somewhere else is a mismatch.
- Not hidden in noindexA link closed from indexing is a mismatch.
- No cloakingOnce a week we look at the page as Google does, and compare.

How often
- Pages on external sites
- Every week — that is where bought links live
- Pages on your own sites
- Every day
- “Check now”
- Within a few minutes
- A placement marked done
- Checked right away
- The site did not respond
- We try again the next day
What a check cannot tell you
Blocked pages
If a site does not respond or blocks us, that is “could not check”, not a lost link.
Clever cloaking
A site that can tell the real Googlebot from us can still fool the check.
Indexing
Whether the page is indexed by Google or Yandex is not checked.
Check the links you already have
Paste them from a spreadsheet and run the first check.
